Building Beloved Community: The Courage to Love in the Face of Tyranny
The Blue Ridge District of the Western North Carolina Conference is offering an exciting opportunity within its nine counties and online. The district is forming study circles around the new book by the Council of Bishops. Our own Bishop Ken Carter was the primary writer for Building Beloved Community: The Courage to Love in the Face of Tyranny. It is a powerful and practical resource for our shared public witness as United Methodists. It invites us —as congregations and individual believers — to be a public witness to see all people and to advocate for the most vulnerable.
Each group will meet for just two or four sessions between culminating in dinner/discussion with Bishop Carter. Skyland UMC is honored to host this light supper and discussion of “where do we go from here?” at 6 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Rev. Joe Tarpley and Kari Kopp will be the facilitators of this study circle for Skyland UMC. These sessions, set for 2-3:30 PM on Sunday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 8, will take place in the Wesley Room.
If you are interested, but can’t make these dates, you can join any of the groups listed at the link below. Please look through those options listed and sign up for a group using the QR code (required). If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Joe or Kari Kopp
