At Skyland United Methodist Church, we're always excited to welcome new visitors. We hope you'll join us for a service, and we want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Here's what you can expect when you come to either our 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. service.
Please don't worry about what you'll wear to church,
for we truly believe people should come to God as they are. You don't need to dress up to get his approval--that comes through Jesus' sacrifice. Once you walk in the doors, you'll see that the congregation has all types of people in all kinds of dress. While a few people in the church wear ties, others like to remind them that Jesus never wore a tie. Shorts are as welcome as suits,
and you'll see both.
When you walk in the front doors,
You will see our welcome desk area, just as you pass through the double doors. Our greeters will be there and want to answer any questions that you have. Feel free to come to our Welcome Desk, and they'll show you where everything is. They'll help you connect your children to either the nursery or other child friendly activities. Children are always welcome in either service and we have child-friendly materials for them! Our greeters can also point you to the restrooms, sanctuary, and fellowship area. If you have any questions about the service itself, the greeters can also provide those helpful answers.
Be sure to hang around after the service so that we can meet you.
You'll have a chance to meet our pastor and many other people in the church. We'd also love to get to know you so you're a familiar face the next time you come.
If you have mobility restrictions or young children to carry, feel free to use one of the spots in front of the small chapel. We like to keep these spots free for visitors. Our handicapped parking spaces are the first spaces in our parking lot and have direct access to our ramps.
What To Expect
We want your experience to be a great one! We offer two different worship services on Sundays. Whether you want to hang back and checkout the view from the back row or are ready to jump in and make some new friends, you will find friendly faces who are ready to help answer questions or show you around. Grab a cup of coffee in the Colonnade and enjoy a morning of great music, fellowship, and a Bible message.
9:00 a.m. - Our early service meets in the fellowship hall and is a service for those who enjoy a less formal worship experience. We invite you to come as you are, bring your coffee, and worship God in a band-driven environment. This service has many families with children.
11:00 a.m. – The Traditional Service happens in the Sanctuary. This service is rooted in Scripture and in United Methodist heritage and tradition. The Chancel Choir and musicians lead the singing of hymns, the Word of God is proclaimed in a traditional style, and Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
